Common questions

The questions we hear most, answered straight.

What kinds of weight can I record for an animal?

You can record birth, weaning, yearling, pre-sale and routine weights, each tracked separately so you compare like with like. Every reading also stores the method used — a proper scale, an estimate by eye, or a tape measurement — so you always know how reliable a figure is. Keeping weight types apart matters because a weaning weight and a pre-sale weight tell you very different things, and mixing them would muddy any growth comparison across the herd.

How does Agrianta work out growth rates?

Growth stats are calculated automatically from the weights you record, so there is no spreadsheet maths to do yourself. Once an animal has more than one reading, Agrianta works out its average daily gain, total gain and growth rate, and plots the full weight history as a chart alongside a table. Open any animal and you see its growth trajectory at a glance, which makes it easy to spot a beast that has stalled or a strong performer worth keeping.

Can I weigh a whole group in one go?

Yes, batch weighing sessions let you run a full group through in a single pass rather than recording each animal separately. You scan the tag, record the weight and move on to the next, with every reading filed against the right animal automatically. It suits a weighing crush or a busy weaning day, and because the mobile app works offline, you can record out in the yard with no signal and let it sync once you are back in range.

Will Agrianta tell me if an animal is gaining too slowly?

Yes, weight alerts flag any animal gaining too slowly or losing weight unexpectedly, so a problem surfaces before it costs you. The alert is drawn from the weight records you already keep, comparing recent readings against the animal's own trend rather than waiting for you to notice at the next handling. That early warning gives you the chance to check for illness, parasites or feed issues while there is still time to put it right.

What do the Pro analytics add for weight tracking?

Pro turns the weights you have already recorded into industry-standard comparisons and forecasts. It builds contemporary groups so animals born and managed together are judged fairly, applies 205- and 365-day adjusted weights for age, dam age and sex, and ranks each animal within its peer group to show your best and weakest performers. Pro also projects future weights from growth trends, works out your cost of gain per kilogram, and exports weight and genetic data formatted for breed society submissions.
