Common questions
The questions we hear most, answered straight.
What does Agrianta track for the cost of each animal?
Every animal gets a complete financial card running from purchase or birth to the day it leaves the farm. You record the purchase price and date, then log costs against the animal across feed, medicine, labour, equipment and any custom categories you set up. From that, Agrianta works out the total cost, the cost of gain per kilogram of weight added, and the daily keeping cost. When the animal sells, you get the sale price, the profit or loss and the margin in one place.
Do I have to enter costs animal by animal?
No, you can record costs against a single animal or a whole batch in one entry. Feed a pen of twenty and you log it once; Agrianta splits the cost across the group automatically, so you are not duplicating the same figure twenty times. Costs sort into feed, medicine, labour, equipment and your own custom categories, and you get breakdown charts for any animal or group. Batch entry keeps the day-to-day recording quick enough to actually keep up with.
What's included in Core and what needs Pro?
Core covers all the recording: cost entry against individual animals or batches, categorisation, batch splitting, breakdown charts, and full purchase and sale history per animal. In short, Core tells you what an animal has cost. Pro builds on that same data to add the analytics: profitability compared by sire, dam and breed, sale projections, side-by-side group comparison, and cost trends over time. You record once and Pro does the heavier number-crunching on top, without re-entering anything.
Can it tell me which animals are likely to be profitable before I sell?
Sale projections are a Pro feature that estimates projected sale dates and profit per animal from each animal's weight-gain trend. It is a planning tool rather than a guarantee, useful for deciding when to sell and what to expect rather than promising an exact figure. Pro also compares profitability by sire, dam and breed, so you can see which bloodlines tend to produce the most profitable animals and put real numbers behind your breeding decisions.
How does this help me spot when an animal is costing too much?
The daily keeping cost and cost of gain show you, per animal, what you are spending to keep it and what each extra kilogram is actually costing, so you can flag animals running ahead of their likely return. On Pro, cost trends track your spending over time across categories and year on year, so a rising feed or medicine bill shows up early rather than at the year-end accounts. You can also compare profitability across groups, locations or management strategies side by side.
